LED DRESSES LIGHTING UP THE MET GALA
Colloquially and affectionately referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out” by Vogue, the Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The gala marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit with a night of stylish dresses based on a tone and theme set by the exhibition. The event welcomes singers, young creatives, celebrity stars, and fashion designers that leave their heart and soul to dress their musses and their companions.
Every year a couture LED dress steals the show and lights up the red carpet in a unique, elegant, and extravagant way. This year the twenty-two-year-old actress, Zendaya wore a black and blue corseted Tommy Hilfiger ballgown with white poufy sleeves and a full A-line skirt. The hand sewed Cinderella dress was made from a fiber optic woven organza sourced from France. Thirty mini battery packs were sewn into the understructure of the dress in order to power its illuminating effect in the dark. The designers’ objective was to present something clean, simple, and elegant but when lighting up with LED lights and the help of the Zendaya’s god mother and smoke effects the dress would turn out into a piece of art, rare, unique, and stylish. At VONN we apply the same strategy, we design a simple, and modern fixture and when the light is turned on, it lights up a space that now has style, personality, and elegance whatever you look.
